Southampton 2-0 Swansea

I was at St. Mary’s Stadium to see Mauricio Pochettino’s Southampton team win their third consecutive Premier League fixture and leap into the top four.

The Red and Whites’ impressive high intensity play and clinical cutting edge proved too much for Swansea, as the Saints won 2-0 (Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez with the goals).

In truth, Michael Laudrup’s men looked leggy throughout following their Thursday night Europa League win over St Gallen, and a recent heavy fixture list.

After the match, myself and a colleague, spoke to team captain, Lallana, young prodigy James Ward-Prowse and midfielder enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin – all of whom were buoyant at yet another win and full of optimism ahead of a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United after the international break.
