Sky News Online Work Experience (December 2010 – January 2011):
I wrote stories under pressure, contributed and offered ideas in the morning meetings, in addition to handling hyperlinks, stills and video. I also practiced presenting on set, communicated with the news desk and used my own contacts to find original story content. Press Officer for LawSports at the AEGON Masters Tennis Tournament (November 2011 – December 2011):
I manned the press desk for the duration of the tournament, wrote and produced content for the ATP Champions Tour, interviewed international tennis players including John McEnroe and Tim Henman, liaised with the tournament office and dealt with press accreditation problems.
Five News Work Experience (February 2011):
I researched stories for the evening ‘Live at 5’ bulletin, contributed ideas in the morning meeting, arranged interviews and worked as a reporter interviewing interviewees for a selection of different news packages.
ITN News Work Experience (December 2010):
I attended a joint press conference between Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg inside No.10 Downing Street. I also researched political quotes for lunchtime live, assisted live outside broadcasts and planned interviews for a political news package ahead of the 6.30pm bulletin.
BBC South Today Work Experience (April 2010):
I worked on the news desk, helping to set-up stories and plan the week’s news diary. I was also involved in the programmes live Royal Wedding coverage from Bucklebury, the home town of Kate Middleton, and I secured interviewees for the lunchtime and evening bulletins.
Trainee Media Officer at Hampshire County Cricket Club (August 2010 – October 2011):
I scripted press releases to deadline, dealt with the accredited media, addressed ticketing and marketing offers to the public, updated the matchday information line, wrote match reports/features, updated social media feeds, interviewed international cricketers including Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann and Shahid Afridi and produced two five-minute videos for the inaugural Test match dinner at The Rose Bowl. I worked on the sports news planning desk, logged and edited footage with the production team, observed live gallery/vision mixing, sat on set with Sky Sports News presenters using studio/gallery earpiece, liaised with football club press officers and attended a press conference with (then) Chelsea Football Club manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
Freelance Journalist work at The Cricketer Magazine (April 2011 – present):
I worked at The Cricketer Magazine on work experience for two weeks during April 2011 where I contributed to the new website with blog material and technical work, produced copy for magazine publication (May 2011) and sourced original content. I am now a regular contributor to The Cricketer Magazine in a freelance capacity.

I interviewed television personality and adventurer Charley Boorman in January 2012. The Long Way Round and Long Way Down star talks about his latest adventure Extreme Frontiers, Racing Across Canada from Newfoundland to the Rockies, his passion for travelling and another motorcycle trip with best friend Ewan McGregor.

Production Assistant Work Experience at British Eurosport (September 2011):
I observed the commentary team during the 2011 US Open from the production gallery and interviewed commentator and former Wimbledon champion Frew McMillan.
Production Assistant Work Experience at Sky Sports Cricket (September 2011):
I worked alongside Sky Sports Cricket’s Executive Producer, Paul King, in the commentary box for England’s final one-day international of the summer against India at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff. I observed the production team and outside broadcast service. During the match, I completed interviews with former England captain Nasser Hussain and one-time Indian Test batsman Sanjay Manjrekar.
Parkinson’s UK (April 2012):
I worked with the Parkinson’s UK media/press office team in the run up to Parkinson’s Awareness Week (16-22 April 2012) – setting up case studies for the media, responding to journalistic enquiries, writing press releases and placing stories in the media.

– TV Short Form News Package – nominated for Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) Awards 2010-2011.
– Researched, produced and wrote 1st Class thesis on the impact of the 2010 Prime Ministerial Leaders Debates on the British voter.
– Filmed and edited two five minute videos which were played at The Rose Bowl’s inaugural Test Match dinner in front of over 1,000 guests.
– First journalist to deliver election result of the Winchester Parliamentary Count (May 6th 2010) live on the night using Skype.
– ‘Coastlines’ documentary – nominated for the prestigious NEU Online Festival Award.

I became the first journalist to report the live result of the Winchester parliamentary seat during the 2010 General Election. Winchester Journalism (BJTC course of the year for Innovation in 2010) conducted eight hours of live broadcasting on the night of the General Election, which was conducted from the university’s studio. The election programme also featured live Outside Broadcasts (OB) from key parliamentary constituencies in the South-East.
